EDUCATOR TRAINING
TRAUMA-INFORMED MENTAL HEALTH TRAINING FOR EDUCATORS
COMING FALL 2022
The education system is facing a mental health crisis. While students are exhibiting unprecedented academic, social, and emotional challenges in schools across the nation, districts are facing staffing shortages and teachers are equipped with fewer mental health resources than ever before.
CIRE aims to implement a targeted, evidence-based training program that will provide practical strategies and tools that educators may identify, understand, and respond to mental health challenges of elementary and high school students. Our program may be implemented in-person, online, or in a hybrid format. The total time commitment of the training is approximately 8 hours, which includes pre-reading, meetings, and completion of related activities. Schools in which children from low-income families make up a significant portion of enrollment will be provided reduced/waived training fees.
ADDRESSING
TRAUMA
Take steps to address the physiological, social, emotional, and academic impacts of trauma. A shortage of mental health professionals is driving change in our learning communities and exacerbating mental health challenges among our most vulnerable students. CIRE supports educators as they build trauma-informed classrooms.
MANAGING STUDENT CRISES
Learn to identify the common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges in your student population. CIRE will provide critical strategies to de-escalate in a crisis situation, including optional CPI physical management skills training. When the crisis is over, educators will be utilize strategies learned to get help for the student in need.
TOOLS AND INTERVENTIONS
When a crisis is unfolding, it's easy to lose control. CIRE prepares educators with The Emergency Kit, which includes frequently used tools in a quick reference format. A comprehensive training manual and handouts are provided to extend lessons to parents and community members by highlighting key communication points.
